So I am back after spending a week in Maine with my family that went by waaaaaaay too quickly. I miss my adorable nephews already!

My uber talented buddy Jessicabree has started a year long project to add more meaning to our scrapbooking and asked me to play along. You can read all the details of the project HERE.

Lesson One - Meaningful Photos.

I selected my photos by going through some old photo albums I had forgotten about in my spare bedroom. I pulled these 4 out and have been staring at them all week formulating exactly why I picked these 4.

Photo 1: My uncle and godfather Vismuts on a NYC subway. My godfather was an extremely talented artist and a very loving soul. And apparently quite the hottie. He was also an incredible dancer and artist. At his funeral I was asked to help put together a memorial board and realized there was this huge chunk of his life I didn't know about. This photo is the perfect glimpse into that life.

Photo 2: Me and my first love Walter. This was taken after our kindergarten (PS 99) dance special where everyone was supposed to wear costumes representing their heritage. We were so in love that he gave me a ring and some Hello Kitty jewelery (that I still have) when he moved away to Miami Florida. There is just something super sweet and innocent I love about this photo. There were many loves after this but Wally will always be my first.
Photo 3: My mom the reader. I adore this photo of my mom reading. The look on her face the vintage dress everything! Its very rare to see my mom without a book in her hands even to this day. I love how beautiful and young she looks. Its just a perfect photo of her.
Photo 4: Me and my mom. My mom and I have had a strained relationship while I was growing up. Its much better now and I look at how happy we both are in this photo it just makes me smile. You can also see sort of how we look alike even back then.

Paul and I love taking spontaneous mini outings. We just decide to get up and go. Last night we went to Stone Mountain not realizing they were already on their off season hours so the attractions were closed. We took a nice little walk up part of the mountain and just stood and enjoyed a beautiful sunset.

We then had fantastic Sicilian Pizza at Enzo's. We had never been before but I will certainly be going back! It's the only place I have seen in Atlanta where you can buy by the slice at dinner time. We sat on the porch eating and reading the news paper (such as it is in Atlanta). My only wish was that we could have been closer to the outdoor fireplace. It is definitely beginning to feel like fall is finally here!

Then home to snuggle up with my latest obsession- the Sookie Stackhouse novels. I finished #5 last night. At this pace I will be done with the series before Friday. lol

All in all just a perfect way to end the day.

Ok well mostly it was the happiest place on earth. It was also one of the hottest. I think I have learned that the only safe time to go to Disney world is mid November through Mid March. I also learned that even the tiny amount of aerobics I have been doing this year since March makes a huge difference when you get out there and start walking 5+miles a day.

Luckily I got to see and do just about everything I had planned to. I also took pictures. Lots and Lots of pictures. About 25 GIGS worth. Sure a ton of them were crappy but some weren't bad at all. This was my first real trip with my Rebel and I tried to take full advantage of that.

I have just started culling some of the photos: Here are some decent ones so far (no I'm not going to post more than a few so don't worry about being trapped in someone else's vacation slide show hell. lol)

Now I have to get back to the reality of laundry and housekeeping. Sigh.....

So I constantly complain to my mom that no one sends me pictures of my adorable nephew. She kindly reminded me that I hadn't sent pictures from his second birthday (Sept 07).

My problem is I take a gazillion and three photos- especially on that trip as it was my first time taking pictures with my DSLR, and just never got around to editing them.

I vowed to my mom to try to get through some so she could have pics. I hadn't realized since she told me that she didn't really take ANY since I was running around like a one woman paparazzi show.

So here are a few that I have gotten through. Please forgive the focus/sharpness problems. Like I said it was my first time using my camera.

I went on a photography field trip with my good buddy Virginia so I had a chance to start practicing with my zoom lens my husband got my for Christmas. This is the first real opportunity Ive had to use it and was pretty happy with the results. Now I just need to learn to hold my arms steadier!






And my absolute favorite- Ive titled it "Yo baby Whaz Up?"
