Ok so I have been debating on adding an accent color to my VERY orange scrap space. Ive been vacillating between an olive-ish green and a deep teal.

I think I just found the perfect product that made my decision simple.


It's decorative Packing tape!!!!!! Its from an uber cool store Tape Swell.

They also cary rolls of sticker labels and envelope wrap arounds. Just really cute cute stuff. I think i am going to get a roll of each (there are 30 yards of tape per roll!!!) and wrap them around my cropper hopper vertical paper holders so it's not quite so dull.

That's MUCH easier than recovering them or stamping and cutting out cute images to put on there.

Color Stories. I had never heard of this term but I guess it's used by people in magazines to help come up with a color pallet and then stick to it.

I am all about color pallets! I love when things match. I guess I have been reading and creating color stories in my head all my life. I have tons of folders on my computer dedicated to color inspirations that I have fallen in love with.

So when I stumbled across this example using fabric I was in LOVE!


I had already started making an inspiration center for my studio. This gives me a great idea on just how to start!

Every year around this time I get seized by a lust to organize and redo my living environment. I am a total nester by nature and I think something about the new year just kicks it into overdrive.

As part of my year long quest to CHANGE things, I want to get my scrap room done. So I was browsing the interwebs for some orange colored rooms and came across this loveliness...






Ive been thinking about adding another accent color and I love how the green looks with the orange. And added bonus it's much easier to find green things than orange. lol I also notice an awful lot of IKEA goin on in the photos. It's a good thing I have one so close!

The Stickles are attached to the sides of the storage unit using velcro strips. I stuck the prickly side to the unit itself then cut each soft strip into thirds and attached them to each individual bottle.

Easy Peasy.

So I got totally slack the last month. Sue me. I'll post birthday pics and Halloween pics and Thanksgiving pics (wow I really totally dropped the blogging ball huh?) this week. But now for my moment of storage genius!

I have been looking for a wooden spinning storage rack for my ink pads so I don't need to dig through a steralite drawer every time I needed one. The problem they are super expensive and because they are huge and wood they cost an additional fortune to ship! And you know me I am cheap cheap cheap! So when I found a seller on ebay with a free shipping offer AND I could take advantage of Microsoft's 30% cash back offer I jumped on the deal.

My unit arrived super fast and it is beautifully crafted. I highly recommend these to anyone!

Of course the first thing I set out to do was to decorate it. There are these empty spaces on each side and I had visions of hamblee mod tree rubons and decoupaged birds but then a light bulb went off. I could actually make USE of that space!!!

I had seen this great storage idea for stickles on 2Peas and realized it would work perfectly on the empty space on my spinning rack. I was originally going to build a framed display for them but I don't have a lot of spare desk space. Using space on something I am keeping right at hand was just perfect!

So here it is - My storage genius moment for the month.

There is something I am LUSTING after at Walmart!


I NEED This! All of it! It is just absolutely stinking perfect! And the name of the line??? Stockholm. Like Sweden aka the land of IKEA.

Suddenly I wish I had gotten the White Expedit instead of the brown so it would match better cause there is no way that beast is coming out of that room anytime soon.

Ok so I don't really NEED it nor do I really have a place to put it (well I could actually use the book case and the smaller cabinet piece) but it was a shock to come across something so hip and cool at Walmart of all places!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my studio. Even more so now that it has air conditioning! And of course that means I can start having people over! Well 2 people anyways. lol

I had this little mini album that I was going to use for some Disney pictures (I know how IN-side the box. lol). Instead being nice and cool I felt inspired to create a little ode to my joy!

As soon as I get photos back from the printer I will add them and upload a completed project.

Because a girl can never have too much ribbon! And the scary thing is there are still many times I am in the middle of a project and I STILL can't seem to find just the perfect ribbon! At first I had them on those adorable doll clothes pins-which I painted white (cause I am all match-ey match-ey like that). I quickly realized that the pins took up WAY too much valuable jar space. Then I tried just dumping the ribbons in the jar all loose and flowing- but that just became a tangled mess. Then someone on 2peas suggested this method which works PERFECTLY! I spooled each ribbon around my hand and then secured them with a tiny rubber pony tail holder. If I had a whole spool of ribbon- I simply slid it off the spool and removed the hard cardboard core.
I completely lucked into these jars at a dollar store and bought every one they had. They fit perfectly in this little alcove I have in my cabinet. I managed to score 13 of them and would love 3 more as I can't stuff another piece of pink ribbon into the jar I have. So far I only have needed 2 jars for my green and blue ribbon. Everything else fits into 1 jar (well pink and orange are overflowing at the moment. lol)
So there you have it- my fantabulous, totally over the top ribbon hoard.
